Originally from Beit Zakaria, Mu’taz Adawi is a Palestinian refugee currently living in the Dheisheh refugee camp. He connected to Roots through Israeli activist Myron Joshua via an Israel-Palestine discussion page on Facebook. Mu’taz later met Myron in person, and, after visiting Beit Zakaria with Myron, became inspired to join. Active in Roots since then, he works on translating materials from English to Arabic, and vice versa, and recruits members of his community to witness Roots’ work. On his own, Mu’taz organizes monthly day-long trips for Palestinians to tour Israel. He recently graduated from the Palestine Ahliya University College with a B.A. in Applied English Language. Mu’taz, a recipient of Roots’ college scholarship, plans to obtain a Master’s in International Cooperation and Development at Bethlehem University.
